Thirty eight long years have passed. The man was used to his situation now. After all those medications and recommendations, he knew his case was beyond help. His family had deserted him. He couldn’t blame them either. Thirty eight years was a long time to wait. Now he was helpless and hopeless. He could not even afford a miracle. With his eyes on the pool, he was always one of the first to see the water stir as the angel caused it to ripple but before he could make it to the pool, someone else always got in before him. Suddenly, this young Jewish Rabbi walks to him and asks him the most incredulous question, “ Do you want to be made whole” Maybe the man did not understand his predicament. As he tried to explain his problems, Jesus looked into his eyes and gave a strange, audacious instruction, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” (John 5: 8) Before he could argue further, his bones began to respond. His knees cracked, his ankles woke up and he that was called an impotent, paralytic began to walk.

The woman with issue of blood had bled for 12 years; her miracle came in one nanosecond. Lazarus had been dead for 4 days; his life was restored in one second. When God gets ready to turn your situation around, he does not have to set up a committee to look into the possibility of your situation. He does not organise a debate to see the practicability or otherwise of your miracle. When God wants to step into your situation, He comes in unhindered and uninhibited. He does what he has to do without fear or favour. And it will not take him a century. You may have waited all your life but his intervention will not take the rest of your life. It will not take him so long to get you to your place of rest.

He makes all things beautiful in His time. His timing may not be spectacular but his time is. In his time things just begin to work together for your good. A siege of a hundred years is destroyed in a matter of minutes, friendly foes turn against each other, blind eyes pop open, the sick are healed, the lame walk, the deaf hear and the lost find salvation. You may have waited a while. Your answer is closer than you think. It won’t be long.
